Exail, the newly formed ECA Group and iXblue group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Australian company Solutions from Silicon (SfS).

The collaboration has been established to develop various advanced data management capabilities in Australia to meet the requirements of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

Signed on a long-term basis, the agreement will also support the RAN’s SEA 1905 programme.

The MoU will primarily focus on increasing the efficiency of the RAN personnel to prepare, conduct and manage their mine countermeasures (MCM) operations.

SfS specialises in developing mine warfare tactical command software (MINTACS), which enhances the capabilities of a naval mine warfare and clearance diving force.

As part of the latest deal, Exail’s teams will work to combine and interface MINTACS software with its MCM solutions.

SfS technical director Russell Norman said: “We’re very pleased to be collaborating with Exail on integration of MINTACS software with their solutions, which will give navies an advanced solution and extended capabilities to manage and conduct MCM missions.”

The MINTACS software module will also be integrated with Exail’s UMISOFT mission management system.

This integrated solution will enable the naval crews to compare data from different missions to detect changes between surveys and prepare for future MCM missions.

Both companies are further planning to conduct joint research and development activities in Australia.

Exail Strategic Programmes vice-president Daniel Scourzic said: “Teaming with SfS enables Exail to integrate MINTACS, a worldwide recognised Mine Warfare Data Center (MWDC), into Exail’s uncrewed MCM integrated solution (UMIS).

“In addition to MINTACS, Exail will also integrate SfS-developed modules into UMISOFT MMS, increasing its interoperability with other MWDC’s and third-party systems by offering military, hydrographic and environmental interfaces.”
