Defence technology group Cohort is set to showcase its latest innovations at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) Japan event scheduled from 21-23 May 2025.

The group’s subsidiaries Chess Dynamics, MASS, and SEA, will demonstrate solutions designed to address the evolving challenges in defence in the Asia Pacific region.

Chess Dynamics will introduce its advanced naval fire control systems, the SeaEagle Fire Control Electro Optical Digital (FCEO-D) and SeaEagle Fire Control Radar Optical (FCRO).

The SeaEagle FCEO-D represents the next generation of fully digital, high-resolution precision Fire Control Electro-Optical tracking directors.

The SeaEagle FCRO is a stabilised radar and electro-optical fire control system that operates in all weather conditions, targeting air, surface, and shore threats for naval guns.

Chess will also showcase its Hawkeye AD fire control and counter-UAS technology, emphasising the role of AI in automating decision-making processes to counteract fast-moving threats.

MASS is set to demonstrate its expertise in electronic warfare (EW) and cyber electromagnetic activity (CEMA)/JEMSO software, services, and training.

A highlight is the THURBON CEMA database management system, a “world-first” in secure and efficient CEMA data storage, visualisation, and analysis.

MASS will also present its countermeasures development service, which combines expertise in physics, defence, technology, and mathematics to create, test, and evaluate countermeasures.

At the DSEI event, SEA will showcase its Ancilia trainable countermeasures system and the latest developments from its partnership with the Terma Group.

Ancilia offers rapid protection against modern dynamic threats, including hypersonic and ballistic missiles, and is compatible with various maritime platforms.

SEA will also discuss the latest on UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Electronic Warfare Countermeasures Increment 1A contract for Ancilia, aimed at enhancing the Royal Navy’s surface ship defensive capabilities.

Additionally, SEA will unveil KraitSense, a flexible, scalable, modular and small footprint sonar solution. The sonar solution features the KraitArray towed array sonar, which enhances anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities for non-specialist vessels.

The company will discuss its submarine communications systems for the Asia-Pacific region.

On the conference’s first day, Cohort chief executive Andy Thomis, alongside Paul Parsons from SEA, David Tuddenham from CHESS, and Bobby Lower from MASS, will present on countering emerging maritime threats and how new technology aids in making quicker, more accurate decisions against adversaries.

Thomis said: “We are looking forward to joining the DSEI Japan event in Chiba this year, engaging directly with our defence and security partners in the Asia Pacific region.

“The event provides the perfect opportunity for Cohort and our subsidiaries to showcase how our expertise and cutting-edge technologies can solve the evolving challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.

“By working closely with our customers and maximising the expertise across our complementary portfolio of businesses, Cohort continues to support the security and readiness of defence forces in this strategically important region.”

EM Solutions, recently acquired by Cohort, will attend the conference with Team Defence Australia.
