Destinus, CUBEDIN, and OMT Group have agreed to jointly develop a modular naval counter-uncrewed aerial system (UAS) capability, as announced during DALO Industry Days in Herning, Denmark.
The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate Destinus’ Hornet interceptor technology into standardised 10ft or 20ft containerised mission modules suitable for shipboard deployment.

In a 19 August release, Destinus said the approach aims to offer navies an additional, scalable interceptor layer against complex aerial threats, complementing existing shipborne air-defence systems.
Destinus will contribute its Hornet family of multi-role autonomous interceptors and the supporting mission module hardware.
The Hornet system is primarily designed for counter- uncrewed aerial system (UAS) and strike missions, including the interception of loitering munitions and hostile uncrewed aerial threats.
Under the agreement, OMT Group will contribute naval platform engineering and maritime design expertise, while CUBEDIN is set to deliver standardised ship interfaces and integration architecture.
All three organisations will support concept development, design evaluation, and qualification aligned to their respective fields.
Destinus’ chief commercial officer Wouter van Beek said: “Navies need more defence and deterrence capacity against threats that keep multiplying, without spending a high-end missile on every engagement.
“A modular mission architecture is a practical way to bring Hornet aboard different vessel classes without redesigning the ship around it.”
The planned containerised modules are designed with flexibility in mind, enabling integration with both current and future naval vessels, subject to vessel-specific engineering and qualification processes.
The solution seeks to address a broadening threat set that includes not only Class 2 UAVs but also adjacent categories such as loitering munitions and other uncrewed threats.
The development roadmap set out in the MoU includes preliminary and critical design reviews followed by system qualification.
Destinus, CUBEDIN, and OMT Group also plan to explore opportunities for their counter-UAS mission modules among European naval customers.
