Asia-Pacific witnessed an 11.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

October 2022 has seen a decrease of 12.51% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 19.46% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.48% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 58.28% in October 2022, a 14.35% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 22.49% in October 2022, marking a 30.91% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 8.58% in October 2022, a 93.33% rise from September 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.03% in October 2022, a 13.33% rise over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 10.75% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s aerospace, defence & security industry during October 2022 over previous month.

Boeing posted 158 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered an increase of 15.33% over the previous month, followed by Elettronica with 50 jobs and a 58.33% drop. Raytheon Technologies with 40 IT jobs and Thales with 28 jobs, recorded a 42.86% rise and a 44% drop, respectively, while QinetiQ Group recorded a flat growth with 23 job postings during October 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s aerospace, defence & security industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 68.34% share in October 2022, an 18.66% decrease over September 2022. Australia featured next with a 21.6% share, up 40.38% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 2.96% share, a drop of 41.18% compared with September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.59%, down by 25.97% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 46.15% share, registered a growth of 12.23% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 3.25% share, down 21.43% over September 2022.
