Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 21%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 24% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 18% in Q2 2023, with new job postings dropping by 9% over the previous quarter.

Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 45% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were RTX, Northrop Grumman, Leidos, Space Exploration Technologies, and Teledyne FLIR. Together they accounted for a combined share of 45% of all future of work-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.
RTX posted 2,393 future of work-related new jobs in Q2 2023, Northrop Grumman 1,055 jobs, Leidos 780 jobs, Space Exploration Technologies 655 jobs, and Teledyne FLIR 599 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 73.52% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023
The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 73.52% followed by Canada (5.62%) and the UK (4.86%). The share represented by the US was six percentage points lower than the 79.02% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
