The top five companies accounted for 28% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Northrop Grumman filed the most cybersecurity patents within the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q3 2023. The company filed 9 cybersecurity-related patents in the quarter, compared with 1 in the previous quarter. It was followed by RTX with 7 cybersecurity patent filings, General Electric (5 filings), and Thales (4 filings) in Q3 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 55% share of total patent filings
