LINKSrechts has commissioned nine helicopter visual landing aid systems, fully NVG compatible, for six different navies in three continents in 2013.

The five following systems have been successfully commissioned after harbour and sea acceptance tests:

  • The Partisan Training Ship HVLA system was commissioned after SAT trials performed by the French Navy. This system was ordered by the French Navy through the NATO Procurement Agency and integrated a new LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting. This turnkey project was completed in six months since the order to the sea acceptance test
  • The French Navy also commissioned a horizon reference system for the ship Alizé within a timeframe of less than five months
  • The German Navy commissioned the helicopter visual landing aid system for the new supply ship EGV 2.los, with a complete HVLA package, including LED GPI, HRS and heli-deck Lighting. Additionally EGV 2.los is equipped with an innovative NVG compatible RAS lighting conceived and manufactured by LINKSrechts
  • The Korean Navy commissioned the helicopter visual Landing aid system for two different ships, Ocean Graphic Vessel – AGX (built at HHI), and for the Salvage and Rescue ship – ATS-II (built at DSME). The systems integrated the LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting
  • The Malaysian Navy commissioned the helicopter visual landing aid system for the first of two training ships (built at NGV Tech on a DSME design). The system integrated the LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting

Before the end of the year the company plans to commission the following systems:

  • Complete HVLA system for the 2nd OPV 80 from the Colombian Navy built by Cotecmar upon a Fassmer design. The system integrates the LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting
  • Complete HVLA system for the 4th PV80 from the Brunei Navy built by Lürssen in Germany. The system integrates the LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting
  • HVLA system for the Ice Breaker from the Finnish Border Guard built by STX Finland. The system integrates the horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting

In addition to commissioning the above systems, LINKSrechts has successfully delivered the following systems in 2013:

  • Complete HVLA system for the 2 landing spots helideck of the Korean Navy Landing Ship Tank LST-II. The system integrates the LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting. Commissioning is planned in the first half of 2014
  • Complete HVLA system for the 2 landing spots helideck of the Dutch Navy Joint Support Ship JSS. The system integrates the LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting. Commissioning is planned in the first half of 2014
  • Complete HVLA system for the Argentinian Navy Ice Breaker Irizar. The system integrates the LED glide path indicator, horizon reference system and heli-deck lighting. Commissioning is planned in the first half of 2014

LINKSrechts plans to perform the FAT trials of the helicopter visual landing aid system and NVG compatible hangar lighting for the 2nd frigate F125 from the German Navy within 2013.

Our company and philosophy is developed to provide high technology products and outstanding services within limited timeframes. Turnkey projects such as the ones developed for the French Navy on board the Partisan with the design, production, installation and commissioning developed within less than six months show our capabilities to refit existing helidecks with state-of-the-art full NVG compatible visual landing systems.

Our systems can vary from simple deck lighting to complete systems including GPI and horizon bar. Our modular design allows our customers to customise the solution for different requirements, with the possibility to upgrade the system by adding the high technology GPI and horizon bar, without any redesign needed. This potential upgradability also allows the costumer to upgrade in later stages and depending on their changing operational needs the HVLAS with the GPI and the horizon bar.

The advantage of our modular design is, besides the flexible upgradability, its capability to be operated with and without NVGs, meeting operational needs and aviation safety requirements. The complete system uses LEDs and meets the operational requirement of illumination without infrared radiation as well as international military requirements for NVG compatible flight operations from ships. The system is equipped with unique features like the integrated NVG mode. This mode allows selecting between normal operation mode and NVG operation mode when the goggle is being used by the pilot. This great feature has been developed with our worldwide customers, and meets current requirements for naval aviation.
