Diving industry equipment and emergency breathing systems

Apeks manufactures high-quality equipment for the diving industry. We manage our equipment design, development, testing and manufacturing from our facility in Blackburn, UK. This enables us to control product quality and design. The manufacturing plant has been ISO9001 quality-accredited for over 19 years and is in line with ISO14000 environmental standard.

Using expert knowledge of compressed air reduction and control systems, Apeks specialises in compressed air emergency breathing systems (CA-EBS) used in aviation.

Customised product design for the naval industry

Apeks can customise product designs to meet the end-user technical requirements. We manufacture some of the highest specification regulators on the market, including MTX range of extreme cold-water regulators and low magnetic regulators that are in line with STANAG 2897. We sold over 60,000 regulators worldwide in 2018.

The design department’s technical capabilities include working within all ISO9001 requirements, using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), FMEA assessment and documentation techniques, underwater breathing testing facilities, on-site rapid prototyping machine and engineering machining capabilities.

Apeks has been involved in several tenders for the Ministry of Defence (MOD), including its current open-circuit diving system, providing passenger short-term air supply system (PSTASS) units for aviation, as well as PSTASS spares and support.

Apeks is recognised for its personalised approach and quick design services that meet the operational changes required by the MOD.

About Apeks

Founded in 1973, Apeks was a scuba diving equipment manufacturer. By the middle of the 1990s, Apeks had developed the first cold water regulator TX range that passed EN250 tests.

TX range is still used today by militaries around the world, including the British MOD.

Since then, Apeks has continued to develop world-class regulators that are a leading product in technical and commercial diving.

In 1997, Apeks was acquired by Aqua Lung founded by Jacques Cousteau who is considered the founder of scuba diving. Apeks has become a leading brand in diving equipment for recreational, technical and professional use.
