SENER has set up a new office in Busan to provide improved sales and technical support to its FORAN customer base in South Korea and neighbouring countries. Located at the Centum IS Tower, a landmark building in Busan’s prosperous beachside Haeundae district, the new SENER office is staffed by an experienced and multi-disciplinary team of naval architects, including country manager Mun-Seob Cho, technical manager Doo-Jin Lee and consultants Min-Bong Park and Yeong-Ho Kim.
This new office marks a major step forward in the company’s strategy to boost its marine systems business in Asia Pacific as it enters the well-established Korean shipbuilding market. Korea has six of the world’s ten largest shipyards and over 100 small and medium-sized shipyards. Approximately 80% of Korean shipyards have been using 3D CAD systems, about 20,000 licenses, for designing their ships.
Many Korean shipbuilders and design subcontractors are expected to replace their CAD systems in the near future. SENER Korea is being set up to better respond to the increasing demand for knowledge and services of FORAN and to most efficiently convey to SENER headquarters the functional requirements of local shipbuilders.
