Raytheon Company has received a contract from the US Navy to produce National Security Agency (NSA) certified next-generation encryption devices to help protect tactical data transmissions.
Under the $32m contract, the company will produce Link Level Communication Security 7M encryptor (LLC 7M) that will help safeguard the Link 22 tactical radio system used by the US military and its allies.

The contract includes a five-year base performance period with an additional five-year option, which if exercised could bring the cumulative value of the contract to $63m.
Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems Secure Information Systems director John Droge said: "Securing our nation's critical information, while enabling communications is paramount to victory on any battlefield, and Raytheon is delivering this capability with the LLC 7M.
"The LLC 7M flexible platform is ruggedised and form-factored for easy installation, enabling Raytheon to support additional capabilities, design enhancements and expanded use cases in the future.
“LLC 7M is available to US military operators and under Foreign Military Sales through the SPAWAR's indefinite delivery requirements contract vehicle.”

Being developed by the US Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, the LLC 7M is as part of the Nato improved link eleven (NILE) project, which is funded and collaboratively conducted by Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.
