Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the Royal Thai Navy have inked a deal at Defense and Security Thailand 2023 in collaboration.

The agreement shows IAI’s commitment to enhancing the Royal Thai Navy’s patrol vessels with technology.

At the Defense and Security Thailand 2023 event, both entities formally signed an agreement, marking the commencement of the project. Under this contract, IAI will provide the Royal Thai Navy with six Sea Mini-POP sensor payloads, bolstering the capabilities of their patrol vessels.

The Sea Mini-POP, a multi-sensor electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) payload, is equipped with a thermal camera featuring continuous optical zoom, a colour camera with daytime zoom, and a laser rangefinder. These enhancements and image processing, positioning, and focusing capabilities will empower the Royal Thai Navy’s patrol vessels to operate even in challenging conditions.

Boaz Levy, president and CEO of IAI, expressed pride in the company’s ability to forge collaborations on the global stage. “The recent transactions by IAI serve as a testament to the company’s impactful collaborations on the global stage, underscoring the trust that nations worldwide place in IAI’s innovative solutions, positioned at the forefront of technology.”

Despite Israel’s defence exports in primary markets, the prolonged Israel-Hamas conflict could pose challenges. Asian countries constitute a significant portion of Israel’s defence exports, with many showing a neutral stance, minimising disruption to Israeli defence exports.

Yet, potential repercussions loom with the UAE and Bahrain reconsidering ties due to the ongoing conflict, jeopardising Israel’s prospects in the Middle East. Additionally, strained relations with Latin American countries like Colombia and Honduras risk undermining Israel’s foothold in these markets. The conflict’s duration could impact Israel’s global opportunities despite recent diplomatic strides.

Its naval combat suite shows IAI’s position in naval and marine solutions. This suite encompasses air defence systems, electronic warfare, missiles, radar, and sensors. Notably, IAI supplies numerous armed forces globally, with the Israeli Navy leading the pack.
