Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has announced the commencement of a strategic partnership with Ocean Aero to expand the capabilities of their uncrewed maritime systems.

The new agreement will allow both the companies to work together on their existing autonomy software technologies and uncrewed maritime platforms.

In line with their collaboration, the two companies have started several initiatives concurrently to expand the reach and improve endurance of their uncrewed platforms.

The efforts also focus on collaborative autonomy approaches, perception abilities and shared sensor fusion, as well as expediting the data transmission techniques from seabed to shore.

HII Mission Technologies division Uncrewed Systems business group president Duane Fotheringham said: “We are pleased to partner with Ocean Aero to further expand the operational capabilities of the US Armed Forces, partner nations and other maritime-focused commercial institutions.

Ocean Aero was also a part of the US Fifth Fleet-led exercise Digital Horizon, held in the Arabian Gulf, for which HII has been deploying its REMUS vehicles, including MK18 Mod 1 and MK18 Mod 2, from last one decade.

In the next steps, HII and Ocean Aero are planning to showcase their integrated capabilities during an upcoming event in the region along with some other pre-scheduled activities and events for the US and other allied and partner nations.
