USS Kearsarge underwent maintenance in Brest, France, while LPD 24 and LSD 44 completed the mid-deployment voyage repair (MDVR) periods in Rijeka, Croatia and Copenhagen, Denmark respectively.

The work was supported by NAVSUP FLCSI’s logisticians and contracting specialists together with their mission partners supported in July.

In order to support the MDVRs of USS Gunston Hall and Arlington, the NAVSUP FLCSI’s contracting department Ship Repair Division (Code 200) procured repair parts for the ships, which ensured on-time completion of maintenance efforts.

Prior to this process, the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Centre (FDRMC) prepared quotes as per the ship’s needs and sent it to the Ship Repair Division, responsible for contract award to the vendor.

The three vessels also received mail, provisions and mission-related cargo, to ensure the equipment were delivered and loaded onto the ships without delay.

NAVSUP FLCSI deployed logistics support representatives (LSRs) and a transportation officer (TO) to establish an on-site presence at each port to facilitate effective delivery of the material.

Furthermore, NAVSUP FLCSI also resupplied the vessels from strategic locations in the UK and Italy.

NAVSUP FLCSI commanding officer captain Douglas MacKenzie said: “Our ability to support ARG’s logistics and maintenance requirements at various strategic locations across US Naval Forces Europe (NAVEUR) attests to NAVSUP’s agility and expertise in delivering readiness to the Fleet where and when our war fighters need it.”
