Leonardo has secured a contract to supply four OTO 127/64 LightWeight (LW) Vulcano naval guns to Lockheed Martin Canada.
The company will also deliver an automatic ammunition handling system (AAHS) as an optional solution to Lockheed Martin.

The guns are for the new Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) new multi-role combat ships.
Irving Shipbuilding will construct the Canadian Surface Combatants (CSC) at the Halifax shipyard in Nova Scotia.
The programme aims to build 15 ships under the broader National Shipbuilding Strategy to modernise the RCN’s entire fleet.

Its technology and digitalisation provide continuous support to operators and the on-board Combat Management System (CMS).
It is seamlessly integrated with the Vulcano 127mm ammunition, both in the Guided Long Range (GLR) and the Ballistic Extended Range (BER) versions.
In the past ten years, the system has been chosen by six navies.
In February, Leonardo secured a contract to provide its new high frequency (HF) radio system for the US Navy’s fleet of E-2D Advanced Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft.
