Rheinmetall has been contracted for the delivery of an Asterion classroom solution to train the maintenance personnel for the German Navy’s NH90 NTH Sea Lion helicopter.
NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA), the European NH90 procurement and management organisation, awarded the contract.

Under the contract, the company will also provide Asterion software, desktop hardware, and tablets.
Delivery is expected take place later this summer and the solution will be installed at German Navy Naval Air Wing 3 at Nordholz Naval Airbase on the North Sea coast of the country.
The digital Asterion classroom is an integrated, holistic training concept and features a soft panel cockpit with touchscreen and a mission control console.
The simulation technology Asterion is used to provide training as it accurately replicates the complete behaviour of the helicopter’s functions.

By GlobalDataAs part of 18 NH90 Sea Lion naval transport helicopters already ordered by the German Bundeswehr, seven of them have been delivered.
Maintenance personnel of these multipurpose helicopters will soon be put through a comprehensive training in Rheinmetall simulators.
Initially, training and retraining will focus on repair and maintenance of the new helicopter.
The NH90 programme is considered as the largest military helicopter programme in Europe.
Rheinmetall is currently supplying additional training resources for the programme.
In November 2020, Bundeswehr ordered 31 NH90 Sea Tiger helicopters to replace the German Navy’s Sea Lynx Mk88A fleet.
The Asterion technology is already deployed at Naval Air Wing 5 and the German Army’s International Helicopter Training Centre at Faßberg in Lower Saxony.
