The US will sell 16 Mark VI Patrol Boats and related equipment to the Government of Ukraine after the possible sale, valued at $600m, was cleared by the State Department.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has also notified Congress of the possible foreign military sale.

Overall, Ukraine has placed a request to purchase 16 Mark VI Patrol Boats, 32 MSI Seahawk A2 gun systems, 20 Electro-Optics-Infrared Radar (FLIR), 16 Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) 5km loudspeaker systems, 16 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems, and 40 MK44 cannons.
The purchase request also includes related communication equipment, support equipment, spare parts, tools and test equipment, technical data and publications, logistics suppor, and personnel training.
The addition of the vessels will bolster the Ukrainian Navy’s patrolling capabilities and tackle current and future threats.

In a statement, DSCA said: “This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe.”
It also added that the sale will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
