Babcock International has secured a contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply hydraulic equipment for installation on the British Royal Navy’s surface ships and submarines.
The contract was awarded after successful competitive bidding for both submarine first level equipment and general hydraulic equipment.

Babcock will use technology and engineering capabilities to maintain, repair and manage the complex systems and equipment as part of the contract work.
Under the contract, the company will deliver new manufactured equipment spares supply, equipment repairs and the provision of ad-hoc technical services for ongoing post design activities for a period of five years.
The contract has an option for a two-year extension.

By GlobalData“To support the significant level of technical complexity associated with the hydraulic product range, we will also draw on technical support from our warships and submarine businesses, which have significant experience in commissioning equipment for similar contracts.”
The company will dedicate a team of technical personnel to hydraulic repairs and overhaul capability in the combined weapons and equipment workshop (CWEW) facility.
The CWEW facility performs hydraulic work in support of both ships and submarines’ maintenance periods.
Last month, Babcock won a four-year configuration management contract for the Royal Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) surface ship fleet.
