Advanced microwave technologies provider Teledyne Microwave Solutions (TMS) has received a new contract to support the US Navy’s EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft.

Valued at approximately $7.51m, the sole-source contract has been awarded by the navy’s Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Under the deal, the company will be responsible for repairing the Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs) used on the ALQ-99 airborne electronic warfare system on the carrier-based EA-18G aircraft.

Work on the firm-fixed-price contract award will be carried out at the company’s 160,000ft² manufacturing facility in Rancho Cordova, California, US.

It is expected to complete the TWT repair project by November 2021.

Designed to replace the US Navy’s EA-6B Prowler aircraft, the Boeing-built EA-18G Growler is an airborne electronic attack (AEA) aircraft that can either operate from an aircraft carrier or from land-bases.

The aircraft is equipped with 11 weapon stations for carrying electronic mission systems and weapons and can then be used to carry out conventional strike missions.
