The event, ARG / marine expeditionary unit exercise (MEUEX), aims at improving navy and marine corps amphibious capabilities in unknown regions by calling the USS New Orleans (LPD 18), USS Comstock (LSD 45) and MEU.
The programme will test the units’ ability to perform both large-scale battle operations and humanitarian assistance around the world and comprises of tactical amphibious landings, training with the French Foreign Legion and tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel (Trap).
The Battalion Landing Team 1/1 commanding officer Lt Col Tye R Wallace said that the MEU was expected to execute any of its assigned missions, from the sea, within six hours of receiving an execute order.
The ARG / MEUEX exercise is expected to complete on 26 May.
