The US Navy has awarded a $500m contract for systems engineering, development and services to Argon ST for the navy’s integrated topside (InTop) programme.

The programme is expected to reduce antenna clutter, mitigate electromagnetic interference, and radar cross-section for the navy platforms by integrating topside radio frequency capabilities into multi-functional solutions using common apertures and processing equipment.

Argon is one of several companies approved to provide solutions that support the study,design, fabrication, integration, and test and evaluation.

Argon ST president and chief operating officer Kerry Rowe stated that ship topside architecture and design had more influence over realised ship warfare mission capability than any other ship system or engineering design discipline.

Argon ST provides full-service C5ISR (command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) systems to defence and intelligence customers.
