The Swedish defence material administration, FMV has granted an order to defence and aerospace company SAAB for the upgrade of mine disposal vehicles for Swedish Navy.

Under this order the company will upgrade the Double Eagle mkI mine disposal vehicle systems to Double Eagle mkII status.

The upgrade includes five Double Eagle mine disposal vehicles for the Koster Class minehunters, onboard systems, training, documentation and optional support programme.

The Swedish Navy is currently using Double Eagle mkI as mine disposal vehicles for the Koster Class ships and Double Eagle mkIII propelled variable-depth sonar mine hunting vehicles for the Visby Class ships.

Saab Underwater Systems managing director Lars Tossman said that the system would achieve an even greater potential by offering a combination of reliability, mission readiness and superior performance.
