The US Navy has awarded a $29m contract to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) to provide operations, maintenance and management support to the navy’s wireless networking programme in eastern Asia.
Under the one-year contract the company will render its support to the ‘outside the continental United States Navy enterprise network’, which covers navy installations outside the continental US.
The company will provide information technology services for the Naval Network Warfare Command to support enterprise network operations, infrastructure and information assurance services.
CSC also guarantees legacy-to-enterprise transition support to classified and unclassified networks at various locations in the Far East, including Japan, Korea, Singapore and Guam.
The CSC North American Public Sector Defense Group president Austin Yerks said that the company will support the navy’s plans to integrate afloat and ashore networks to deliver unique operational capabilities for the cyber warfighter.
CSC has received the contract from the Naval Supply Systems Command’s fleet and industrial supply centre in Norfolk.
Georgia defence contractor C4 Planning Solutions will collaborate with CSC on the contract.
