Currently operational Sukhoi Su-33 (Flanker-D) carrier-based fighters will be replaced by the MiGs.
The MiG-29K fighter aircraft features a larger wing area, incorporating a longer chord double-slotted flap and drooped elevons over the basic MiG-29K.
Additional features include the central fuselage integral tank and a fuselage load-carrying section, to which the arrester hook and main struts are attached.
MiGs have a range of 150km in detection mode and 130km in tracking mode, against a target with a radar cross section of 5m² and can also fire missiles at four different targets simultaneously.
The fighter can use a wide range of weapons, which includes eight types of air-to-air missiles and 25 air-to-surface weapons.
Deliveries of the 24 carrier-based fighters will start in 2010.
