During its deployment the supercarrier strengthened the Fifth Fleet supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, counter-piracy operations off Somalia and the Horn of Africa, and security operations in the north Arabian Gulf.
By the time of arrival the 650t ship will be carrying approximately 6,000 navy personnel and its support ships.

USS Ronald Reagan can carry 80 combat aircraft and is capable of distilling 400,000gal of fresh water from sea water daily, enough to provide water to 2,000 homes.
