The 66.40m-long, 6.20m-wide submarine has a submerged displacement of 1,670t. It can accommodate 31 crew members and move at a submerged speed of 20kt.
The Tun Razak was assembled and delivered at the Cartagena shipyard. The stern sections of the submarines are built by Navantia and the bow sections by French company DNCS.
As part of the two-submarine contract signed in June 2002, the RMN received the first submarine Tunku Abdul Rahman on 26 January 2009 in Toulon, France.
