LaBarge will provide military wiring harnesses for the US Navy’s mk48 submarine-launched torpedoes and mk54 torpedoes surface ship and aircraft-launched torpedoes under a contract awarded by Raytheon.

Wiring harnesses work under the $2.6m contract will be carried out at the company’s facility in Arkansas and is expected to be complete by December 2011.

The mk48 is a heavyweight submarine-launched torpedo intended for anti-submarine and anti-ship warfare in shallow and deep-water environments.

The mk54 is a lightweight ship and attack aircraft launched torpedo designed to track, classify, and destroy submarines in deep and shallow waters.
