Under the $17.35m contract, the company will provide depot-level maintenance services to completely refurbish the helicopter structure and all components, and to ready the H-3 helicopters for flight deployment.
The H-3 Sea King is a twin engine, all-weather helicopter used by the navy to detect, classify, track and destroy enemy submarines as well as to provide logistical support, and conduct search and rescue missions
The 21.9m-long and 5.1m-high helicopter has a maximum payload capacity of 9,450kg with an operational range of 542nm and can can carry four crew members flying at an airspeed of 120kt.
Work will be carried out at the company’s maintenance repair and overhaul facility in Maryland and is expected to be complete by December 2010.
