The US Navy has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman Corporation for maintenance, repair and modernisation of Pearl Harbor-based submarines.

Under the $140.4m contract, Northrop’s subsidiary AMSEC will support Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard by providing maintenance and repair services for the operational readiness of submarines in the Pacific.

Work will be carried out at Pearl Harbor and is expected to be complete by December 2014.

The contract has been awarded by the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and the intermediate maintenance facility (IMF) in Pearl Harbor.
