Under the contract, LIG Nex1 will localise the parts of Saab ESM system and deliver the systems to Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH (HDW) for the South Korean Navy’s second batch of Class 214 submarines.
LIG Nex1 will also ensure future maintenance support of the ESM systems at the company’s production facilities in Gumi, South Korea.
In 2002, Saab received a contract to deliver ESM systems from its South African operation to HDW for the first batch of the navy’s Class 214 submarines.
