The US Navy is to deploy the guided missile frigate USS Curts to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf as part of the ongoing rotation of forward-deployed forces to support maritime security operations.

During the deployment, Curts, with its crew of more than 200, will take part in multinational exercises, patrols and training missions.

The Oliver Hazard Perry Class frigate primarily focuses on joint and international partnerships and will support the US Maritime Strategy.

The deployment enables USS Curts to provide deterrence, promote peace and security, preserve freedom of the sea and humanitarian / disaster response within third fleet’s 50-million-square-mile area of responsibility in the Eastern Pacific.

The Oliver Hazard Perry Class frigates are fast warships that provide multimission offensive and defensive capabilities, and can be operated independently or as part of any naval groups.
