EMS Technologies will supply antenna systems for the US Navy Helicopter Airborne Common Data Link (CDL) programme under a contract awarded by L-3 Communications Systems.

Under the initial $6.3m contract, the company will provide an EMS Ku-band CDL antenna system for the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter, providing extended range, high data rates and high reliability.

The AN/ARQ-59 System with EMS antenna supports a wide range of surveillance, warfare and recovery missions by increasing the current data rates of the helicopter’s high-speed data link to 22 megabits per second at over 100 nautical miles.

EMS’s antenna design for the Navy Hawklink programme will spread to other airborne platforms to include CDL capabilities as the Armed Forces upgrades it.
