During the test-launch, the Nour missile successfully hit its target from a distance of 100km, according to presstv.ir.
The Iranian Navy also plans to build an upgraded version of the missile with a range of 300km, according to military officials.
The successful testing of the Nour missile enables the Jamaran destroyer to actively participate in peaceful missions in international waters.
Jamaran is the navy’s first indigenously built guided-missile destroyer, and is equipped with modern radars and electronic warfare capabilities.
Armaments on the Mowdge Class destroyer includes a variety of anti-ship and surface-to-air missiles and the vessel can accommodate a crew of approximately 140.
The Iranian Navy says it will launch a second home-built destroyer during 2012.
