The US Navy has awarded a contract to Mikros Systems Corporation for deliveries and support of the company’s adaptive diagnostic electronic portable test set (ADEPT).
Under the $26m contract, the company will procure ADEPT systems and provide related engineering services required for system enhancements, logistics, and field support.
The ADEPT is a configurable, modular test set that automates and accelerates a range of preventive and corrective maintenance activities for radars and electronic systems used on navy ships.
The test set is specifically designed to improve mission readiness and performance of important shipboard electronic systems, including equipment associated with the navy’s ballistic missile defence programme.
ADEPT also provides near real-time display of shipboard equipment performance parameters to subject matter experts ashore.
The US Navy’s Aegis cruisers and destroyers will be the first ships to receive ADEPT systems.
The five-year contract also includes future enhancements of the ADEPT product line, which are expected to provide wide-ranging applicability to other navy radars and electronic systems.
The contract has been awarded by the US Navy Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane, Indiana.
