General Dynamics (GD) Electric Boat will provide maintenance and overhaul services to the US Navy’s attack submarine USS Miami under a $10.2m contract.

Under the contract, the company will provide repairs, maintenance work, alterations and testing services for the Navy’s Los Angeles Class attack submarine.

The docking continuous maintenance availability contract has options that, if exercised, would bring the value of the contract to $12.2m.

Work will be carried out at Electric Boat’s Groton shipyard. It is expected to be complete by August 2010.

The 362ft-long, 33ft-wide submarine has a full displacement capacity of 6,146t and can accommodate a crew of 110.
