The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has awarded a contract to DCNS to supply a simulator and associated services in support of its Scorpene Class submarines.
Under the contract, worth around MYR128m ($39.9m), the company will provide a simulator that allows extensive training in navigation safety, combat systems, sensors and periscope operations for Scorpene submarines.
The first Royal Malaysian Navy’s Scorpene Class diesel-electric attack submarine is currently undergoing tropical water and weapons trials in the waters of Sabah.
The navy is expected to receive the second Scorpene submarine, KD Tun Razak, by July 2010.
