UK Royal Navy survey ship HMS Scott has successfully completed its six-month deployment in Antarctica and has returned to Devonport, UK.
During the deployment, the ship carried out its primary role of ocean surveying and completed operations in Antarctica and the Atlantic.
HMS Scott, equipped with a multibeam sonar suite, is capable of surveying the deepest oceans in continuous lines of up to 400 miles in length.
The ship uses the CARIS survey processing system to provide the navy with clear and accurate bathymetric data and analyses all types of oceanographic variables from salinity to the speed of sound through water.
