The US Navy has awarded a contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to provide support services for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command common afloat local area network infrastructure (CALI).

Under the $502m contract, SAIC will provide integrated logistics support, configuration management, test and evaluation, quality assurance and installation support.

The contract awarded by the SPAWAR is part of an overall US Navy initiative to update and replace computer and data networking systems onboard its surface ships and submarines.

The networking systems include the combined enterprise regional information exchange system maritime, integrated shipboard network system and sensitive compartmented information networks.
