The US Navy has successfully test fired two Trident II D5 missiles launched from the USS Maryland submarine.

During the test, the missile successfully hit the targeted weapon range proving the reliability, accuracy, and performance factors of the missile and its launch systems.

The navy launched the missiles as part of a follow-on commander’s evaluation test as required by the Department of Defense’s National Command Authority.

This test marked the 131st, 132nd, 133rd and 134th consecutive successful test flights of the Trident II D5 missile since 1989.

The Lockheed Martin developed Trident II D5 fleet ballistic missile is a next-generation submarine-launched ballistic missile.
