BAE Systems Australia will produce and deliver additional Nulka anti-ship missile defence units under a A$40m contract awarded by Australia’s Defence Materiel Organisation.

The Nulka is an active missile decoy system specifically designed to lure incoming missiles away from surface ships that can be used as part of a multilayer defence system or for stand-alone ship protection.

The rocket-propelled decoy system provides effective all-weather protection for naval vessels against anti-ship missiles.

Additional rounds produced under the new contract will be used by the navies of Australia, the US and Canada.

As a prime contractor, BAE Systems will design, develop, and integrate the Nulka system while Lockheed Martin and Aerojet will manufacture electronic warfare payload and the rocket motor.
