The Egyptian Navy may receive a total of 40 Skyguard Amoun solid-state transmitters to upgrade the Skyguard-Sparrow launcher / illuminator system from the US under a $77m foreign military sale programme.

The proposed sale also includes the supply of spare and repair parts, support equipment, training equipment and logistics support.

Egypt will replace the aging and obsolete transmitters with the new equipment to improve the reliability and maintainability of the navy’s Skyguard air defence system.

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, is expected to be the prime contractor for the production and delivery of the Skyguard transmitters.
