The Russian Navy has deployed its Severomorsk guided-missile destroyer to participate in an international naval exercise, Frukus 2010, in the North Atlantic.

Frukus 2010, taking place from 22-25 July, is an annual exercise that involves France, Russia, Britain and the US navies practising interoperability for future joint operations, according to Ria Novosti.

Severomorsk is an Udaloy-class guided-missile destroyer equipped with anti-ship missiles, 30mm and 100mm guns, and two Ka-27 Helix helicopters.

During Frukus 2009 the Russian Northern Fleet destroyer operated alongside the French Tourville frigate, the guided-missile frigate USS Klakring and the Royal Navy destroyer HMS York.
