Avcorp Industries will produce F35 carrier variant – outboard wings (CV-OBW) for the US Navy under a contract awarded by BAE Systems.

Under the contract, Avcorp is expected to deliver up to 340 shipsets of the CV-OBW over ten to 15 years of production.

BAE Systems F35 project director C Addison said the contract with Avcorp would enable BAE to deliver quality OBWs that achieve the affordability targets for the US Navy’s F35 Lightning programme.

A production facility for the aerostructure assemblies is being established by Avcorp with assembly work scheduled to begin by the end of 2010.

Major production work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Delta BC and the initial deliveries are expected to start by mid 2011.
