The Norwegian Navy’s F-310 Class frigate, Thor Heyerdahl, will be delivered for formal customer trials in October 2010.

Initial sea trials were conducted by Navantia at the Fene-Ferrol shipyard from 31 August to 2 September.

The main propulsion system and the ship’s systems and equipment were tested during the trials.

The 133.25m-long frigate, with a full-load displacement capacity of 5,130t, was launched on February 11 2009, and is expected to be delivered early next year.

The F-310 Class frigates are equipped with the US-supplied Aegis combat system incorporated with a SPY-1F radar, according to Defence-aerospace.

Thor Heyerdahl is the last of the five F-310 Class frigates to be delivered under a contract signed between Navatia and the Norwegian Navy in June 2000.
