The French Navy has received the ballistic missile submarine Le Terrible (SSBN) equipped with modern facilities and enhanced sound discretion capabilities.

The heavy-built Le Triomphant Class submarine is equipped with a highly developed sonar system for smooth under water movement and are capable of attaining successful underwater wars.

Le Terrible SSBN will be equipped with 16 M51 intercontinental missiles with nuclear warheads and will be tested from the submarine, according to Brahmand.

The submarine will be officially deployed into service upon completion of its training programme.

The French Navy plans to fit the new improved missile on the other three Le Triomphant Class submarines between 2010 and 2018.
