Indian and Israeli naval forces have agreed on a new naval accord to expand their cooperation and jointly monitor the whole region from the Strait of Hormuz to the Indian Ocean.

The two countries have also agreed to share UAV technology, submarine-launched cruise missiles and anti-ballistic missile systems.

The cooperation will also extend to network-centric operations, micro-satellite surveillance systems, advanced precision-guided munitions (PGMs) and third-generation night-vision devices.

The Indian Navy is currently working to develop the supersonic 70km range Israeli Barak next-generation missile defence system and medium-range SAM system, capable of detecting and destroying hostile aircraft at a range of 80km-90km.

India has received the three Phalcon airborne early warning radar systems (AWACS) supplied by Israel as part of a $1.1bn deal, according to Pakistan Observer.
