Navantia has launched an F-105 frigate, Cristóbal Colón, for the Spanish Navy from the Fene-Ferrol shipyard.

The F-105 is the fifth in the F-100 series and incorporates modifications derived from the improvements achieved in the productive proccess and from the operativeness of the ships.

The new ships are equipped with the new Lockheed Aegis 1-D (V) radar, and incorporate improved habitability, and a command and control system.

The Spanish Navy will commission the frigate in mid 2012.
