Rheinmetall and Sikorsky have offered the Cyclone Naval Helicopter to the German Navy, as part of the navy’s planned procurement of 30 multirole naval helicopters to replace its current Sea King systems.

The helicopter is capable of simultaneously performing missions that include maritime surveillance, anti-submarine warfare operations, search and rescue missions, and engaging surface combatants.

The German Navy’s new helicopter is to be deployed in ship-based mode on its 124/125 Class frigates and 702 Class combat support ships.

Rheinmetall will provide future system logistics, in-service support (ISS), and instruction and flight crew training operations.
