Boeing has awarded a low-rate initial production contract to Raytheon to develop six long-range, multimission maritime and overland surveillance radars plus spares for its P-8A Poseidon aircraft.

The APY-10 radar has been designed as a premier sensor for maritime and overland missions for the US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft, and will replace the existing APS-137 radar.

The radar delivers accurate information for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare and intelligence, and surveillance and reconnaissance missions in all weather conditions.

Boeing’s P-8A will replace the US Navy P-3 aircraft and will be used for surveillance along the US coastline.

Raytheon is a member of the Boeing-led industry team for the US Navy P-8A programme.
