The Iranian Navy has, for the first time, equipped hovercraft with long-range surface-to-surface missiles, Iranian naval commander rear admiral Seyyed Mahmoud Moussavi has said.

“The deployment of these hovercraft has boosted the deterrence power of the Islamic Republic Navy and substantially increased our capacities due to their high speeds,” he added.

The installation of missile systems will increase the mobility and manoeuvrability of naval units and will allow the amphibious craft to operate in various coastal and naval areas.

The navy has recently test fired a range of high-precision powerful missiles mounted with laser technology with a range of 45km-300km.
