The captive carriage testing is to ensure C-1 maturity and to meet warfighter requirements.
JSOW integrated product team lead Commander Douglas Phelan said the C-1’s Link-16 network interoperability was also tested.
During the test, the weapon’s data link exchanged secure tactical data using the Link-16 network that allowed the F/A-18E/F aircraft to pass targeting information to the weapon.
JSOW C-1 is an all-weather, day or night, launch-and-leave, network-enabled weapon with a global positioning / inertial navigation system to help strike moving maritime targets.
The full system captive carriage test will be carried out in spring with the first free flight of the variant later this year.
